A Traveler’s Guide to Healthy Activities in Hawaii
Is anyone heading to Hawaii this summer? If you haven’t made plans yet, let this blog entice you! It simply is one of the most stunning states in the world, and for good reason. Many people love to come here to wind down from the stress and turmoil of the everyday world, and we would like to share our favorite places to go to in Oahu.
Oahu is known as “The Gathering Place” and is the main island where Honolulu is located. Oahu already offers a huge variety of scenic spots for full body and mind relaxation. Here’s a list of things to do while you’re spending time on this stunning island. Don’t forget, if you’re looking to explore further, the surrounding islands all have so much to offer as well!
Diamond Crater Hike
Diamond Head, or Le’ahi as Native Hawaiians call it, is the most iconic volcanic formation in all of Hawaii. Soaring high above Waikiki, it serves as a backdrop to Honolulu’s skyline, and has forever made worldwide impressions on postcards sent from Hawaii. It is a 1.6km hike, and while steep, it is certainly worth it for the most stunning view you will ever see.
Twin Islands Kayak
While the hike is certainly gorgeous, you may want to wind down in a more secluded location. Kayaking to the twin islands also known as “The Mokes” to locals offers a chance to do so. You will find yourself drifting into the calm Lanikai Blue Ocean, while taking in the breath-taking views between two worlds. It is impossible to lose your way as the twin islands act as a useful landmark.
Waimanalo Beach
Travelers often exclaim that Waimanalo Beach is the prettiest stretch of sand on the island. Not far from the beach and 600 feet above the ocean’s surface is Makapu’u lighthouse, which is also found on a lot of postcards. In reality, the lighthouse itself pales in comparison to the vibrant, luscious mountains north of the sandy beach.
Hanauma Bay
Between Waimanalo Beach and Diamond Head lies this hidden, south-facing beach. Hanauma Bay is a State Park and reservations can be made for your visit. Locals revere this section of sand for its glorious sunsets, post-storm rainbows, and all of that crystal-clear turquoise water. A perfect place to wind down in after a day of activities.
