Chamomile
JK7® Plant of The Month
Chamomile is one of the most popluar medicinal plants in Europe. The herb can be found in almost every kitchen cupboard, and rightly so, because Chamomile is a true jack-of-all-trades.
The true Chamomile (also called Matricaria Chamomilla) belongs to the sunflower family (Asteraceae), and is related to other known wild herbs such as dandelion, marigold and wormwood. The characteristic aroma of Matricaria Chamomilla can easily fill a room, distinguishing itself from the false Chamomile.
Chamomile tea, which is made from the dried flowers and leaves of the plant, often proves to be one of the most effective remedies for digestive issues. Chamomile is also often prepared as a tinctures and added to baths, in order to relieve inflamed, sore and itchy skin.
Because of its soothing and anti-inflammatory effects, the Chamomile plant is used widely in our JK7® Luxurious Natural Skin Care products. In the wild, Chamomile is hard to find, and so we are pleased to organically cultivate Chamomile in our Austrian JK7® SPA Retreat.
